The Kilowatt Case is the case a lot of players have sitting in their inventory without ever thinking about it, bro. It drops all the time, it costs about a dime on the Steam market, and it carries two skins that people actually want: the AK-47 Inheritance and the AWP Chrome Cannon. It's also the only place the Kukri Knife comes from. If you searched for the Kilowatt Case on Clash.gg, you're probably trying to work out what's inside, what your real chances are, what it costs and whether there's a smarter route than spamming keys. Let's go through it.

Straight up: we haven't opened Kilowatt Cases for this page. The contents come from the Counter-Strike wiki's case page, the odds are the ones Valve publishes for every weapon case, and the prices are Steam Community Market figures we pulled on October 30, 2026. Prices move every day, so read every number here as a snapshot, not a promise.

The quick answer

  • Released: February 6, 2024. It was the first new case after Counter-Strike 2 replaced CS:GO.
  • What's inside: 17 community-made skins. That's 2 Covert, 3 Classified, 5 Restricted and 7 Mil-Spec.
  • Rare special item: the Kukri Knife, in 13 versions (vanilla plus 12 finishes).
  • Knife chance: 0.26%, so roughly one knife per 385 openings on average.
  • Cost per opening: about $2.60 in late October 2026. The case was around $0.11 and the key is $2.49 from Valve.
  • On Clash.gg: you don't open Valve's Kilowatt Case on the site. Clash.gg has its own cases, a free price database called Stash that lists the Kilowatt Case, and a marketplace where you can buy Kilowatt skins outright.

Valve's case and Clash.gg are two different things

People mix these up constantly, so here's how it actually breaks down.

The Kilowatt Case itself is a Valve container. You get it from your weekly care package or buy it on the Steam market. To open it you need a Kilowatt Case Key, which only Valve sells, and the result goes straight into your Steam inventory. The odds are fixed by Valve and they're the same as every other weapon case.

Clash.gg's own cases are built by the site. Clash.gg decides which items go in, sets a chance for each one and shows those chances on the case page before you open. A site case might feature Kilowatt skins like the Inheritance or the Black Lotus, but its odds won't match Valve's. Always read the odds table on the specific case.

Clash.gg Stash is the site's free skin database at stash.clash.gg. It has a page for the Kilowatt Case (container #393) and a page for the Kilowatt Collection, where you can look at every skin and compare prices. It's a handy place to price things before you decide how to spend.

The Clash.gg marketplace is where you buy a skin with your site balance and withdraw it to Steam. If what you really want is an Inheritance or a Chrome Cannon, buying it directly skips the gamble entirely. Our Clash.gg marketplace guide explains how buying and withdrawing works there.

Every skin in the Kilowatt Case

Here's the full list, grouped by rarity from rarest to most common.

Covert (red)

  • AK-47 | Inheritance – an ornate, decorated AK and the skin most people open this case for. Field-Tested sold for a median of about $41.66 on the Steam market on October 30, 2026.
  • AWP | Chrome Cannon – a polished chrome-style AWP. Field-Tested sat at a median of about $31.53 the same day.

Classified (pink)

  • M4A1-S | Black Lotus – about $4.65 median in Field-Tested.
  • USP-S | Jawbreaker – about $3.83 median in Field-Tested.
  • Zeus x27 | Olympus – one of the few properly designed Zeus skins, about $3.43 median in Field-Tested.

Restricted (purple)

  • Glock-18 | Block-18
  • M4A4 | Etch Lord
  • Five-SeveN | Hybrid
  • MP7 | Just Smile
  • Sawed-Off | Analog Input

Mil-Spec (blue)

  • Dual Berettas | Hideout
  • MAC-10 | Light Box
  • Nova | Dark Sigil
  • SSG 08 | Dezastre
  • Tec-9 | Slag
  • UMP-45 | Motorized
  • XM1014 | Irezumi

The Mil-Spec and Restricted tiers are where most of your openings will land. Those skins are usually worth well under a dollar to a few dollars, which is the core reason opening this case loses money over time.

The Kukri Knife: the case's only knife

Unlike older cases that share a set of four knives, the Kilowatt Case has exactly one: the Kukri Knife. It's a curved, forward-weighted blade, and it was brand new when the case launched. You can't get a Kukri from any other weapon case.

It comes in 13 versions:

  • Vanilla (no finish)
  • Blue Steel
  • Boreal Forest
  • Case Hardened
  • Crimson Web
  • Fade
  • Forest DDPAT
  • Night Stripe
  • Safari Mesh
  • Scorched
  • Slaughter
  • Stained
  • Urban Masked

Prices spread out a lot. On October 30, 2026, a Field-Tested Safari Mesh, one of the cheapest finishes, had a median of about $44 on the Steam market. A Factory New Fade sat around $177. Case Hardened prices swing hard depending on the pattern, so a blue-heavy one can sell for far more than a typical one. Our Case Hardened and blue gem guide explains how that pattern pricing works.

Valve doesn't publish separate chances for each finish. When you hit the 0.26% knife slot, which finish you get is another roll on top. So a Kukri Fade is a long shot inside a long shot.

Kilowatt Case odds

The Kilowatt Case uses the same odds Valve shows for every weapon case:

RarityChanceAbout 1 in
Mil-Spec (blue)79.92%1.25
Restricted (purple)15.98%6.3
Classified (pink)3.20%31
Covert (red)0.64%156
Knife (Kukri)0.26%385

A few things worth knowing:

  • The Covert slot is split between two skins. With an Inheritance and a Chrome Cannon sharing the red tier, each one lands about 0.32% of the time, roughly 1 in 312 openings.
  • Odds don't improve with volume. Every opening is independent. Opening 100 cases doesn't make the 101st more likely to hit. Averages only show up over a huge number of openings, and even then plenty of people come out way behind.
  • StatTrak is a separate roll. Each item can come as StatTrak, which usually adds to its price. Valve's disclosure puts that at roughly a 1 in 10 chance on non-knife items.

What one opening really costs

Opening any Valve case means buying two things. For the Kilowatt Case in late October 2026:

  • The case: about $0.11 on the Steam Community Market. Tens of thousands sold that day.
  • The key: $2.49 from Valve, which is the standard key price.
  • Total: around $2.60 per opening.

Notice where the money goes. The case is basically free. The key is about 96% of the cost, and that money goes to Valve no matter what you unbox. So even though the case looks cheap, it isn't a cheap case to open. Our CS2 key price guide explains why key prices don't drop.

Now picture 100 openings. That's about $260. On average you'd expect around 80 Mil-Specs, 16 Restricteds, 3 Classifieds, maybe one Covert and a 26% chance at a single knife. When the commonest outcomes are worth a fraction of the key, the maths doesn't work. That's an example with average odds, not a forecast, and real results can be a lot better or a lot worse.

Why the Kilowatt Case is so cheap

The case price is low for a simple reason: there's a lot of it. A daily Steam volume in the tens of thousands at around ten cents means plenty of supply keeps arriving, mostly from weekly care packages, while demand for opening it stays modest.

We can't confirm Valve's current active drop pool from an official source, because Valve doesn't publish one. The price and volume strongly suggest it's still dropping widely, but if that matters to you, check a current drop-pool tracker. Our weekly care package guide covers how weekly drops work.

The flip side: if you're holding Kilowatt Cases as an "investment," don't expect much. Cases tend to go up only after Valve pulls them from the pool and supply dries up, and nobody outside Valve knows when that happens.

Smarter ways to get Kilowatt skins

If you want something from this case, here are the realistic routes, from most predictable to least.

1. Buy the skin you want. If it's the Inheritance, you pay around $40 for Field-Tested and you have it today. No 1-in-312 lottery. You can do this on the Steam market, or with site balance on the Clash.gg marketplace and then withdraw.

2. Trade up. The Kilowatt Collection supports trade-up contracts. Ten skins of one rarity become one skin of the next rarity up, picked from collections you put in. Since October 2025, five Coverts can also be traded into a knife or gloves from those Coverts' cases, so Kilowatt Coverts can feed a Kukri trade-up. Our trade-up contract guide walks through the rules and the float maths.

3. Use free cases first. Before spending real money on keys, use the free cases Clash.gg gives new players through our link. There's no code to enter. It's a no-cost way to see how site cases feel, and if it's not for you, you've lost nothing.

4. Open Clash.gg site cases. If you like the thrill of opening, site cases show their item odds up front and some include Kilowatt skins. Read the odds and the item values before you open. Every case, Valve or site, is built so the house wins on average.

5. Open Valve keys. The most expensive and least predictable route. Only do it with money set aside for fun.

Is the Kilowatt Case worth opening?

As a money-maker, no. You're paying about $2.60 a go, and nearly 80% of openings give you a blue skin worth a small slice of that. The cases that pay off are the rare knife and Covert hits, and those are rare by design.

As entertainment, it can be fun in small doses, and the Kukri is a cool knife you can't unbox anywhere else. Set a budget before you start, stop when it's gone, and don't chase losses. If you just want a specific skin in your loadout, buying it is almost always cheaper.

How to check prices before you spend

Prices for this case and its skins change daily. Before you buy keys, sell skins or open a site case:

  • Steam Community Market: the case page and each skin's page show the current lowest listing and recent median.
  • Clash.gg Stash: search "Kilowatt Case" to see the container and its collection with prices side by side.
  • Look at wear and StatTrak. Factory New and StatTrak versions can cost several times more than Field-Tested. Our float value guide explains the wear ranges.

Common mistakes with this case

  • Thinking a cheap case means a cheap opening. The key is the real price.
  • Expecting a Covert soon. At 0.64%, going 200 or 300 openings without a red is normal.
  • Mixing up Valve odds and site odds. A Clash.gg case with Kilowatt skins has its own odds table. Read it.
  • Ignoring wear. A Battle-Scarred Inheritance and a Factory New one are very different prices.
  • Using sketchy key or case resellers. Stick to Steam and well-known sites, and never share your Steam login or API key. Our CS2 trading scams guide covers the common tricks.

The bottom line

The Kilowatt Case launched on February 6, 2024, holds 17 skins led by the AK-47 Inheritance and AWP Chrome Cannon, and is the only case with the Kukri Knife, in 13 versions at 0.26% odds. One opening cost about $2.60 in late October 2026, and almost all of that is the key. If you want a particular skin, buy it or trade up. What are the Kilowatt Case odds?

Valve's standard case odds: Mil-Spec 79.92%, Restricted 15.98%, Classified 3.20%, Covert 0.64% and a knife 0.26%, roughly 1 in 385 openings.

How much does it cost to open a Kilowatt Case?

About $2.60 in late October 2026: the case was around $0.11 on the Steam Community Market and a key costs $2.49 from Valve. The key is almost the whole cost.

Can I open the Kilowatt Case on Clash.gg?

Valve's Kilowatt Case is opened inside CS2 with a Valve key. Clash.gg runs its own cases with its own contents and odds, lists the Kilowatt Case in its Stash skin database, and sells Kilowatt skins on its marketplace.

When did the Kilowatt Case come out?

February 6, 2024. It was the first case released for Counter-Strike 2 after the game replaced CS:GO.

Why is the Kilowatt Case so cheap?

Supply. Tens of thousands change hands on the Steam market every day, which points to a huge number still coming from weekly drops. Lots of supply and little demand keeps the case itself near the bottom of the price range.

Is the Kilowatt Case worth opening?

Not for profit. Most openings return a Mil-Spec worth far less than the key. Open it only for fun with money you're fine losing, or buy the exact skin you want.
