If you want a Case Hardened knife and don't have Karambit money, the Kukri is one of the most realistic ways in. It's a heavy, curved blade that Valve added with the first CS2 case, and the Case Hardened finish gives it the same blue, gold and steel heat staining collectors love on the AK. The Battle-Scarred version is the one most budget buyers look at first, so here's what you actually get, what it costs right now, and where people usually go wrong.
A quick word on our sources: prices are from the Steam Community Market's public price data on October 30, 2026, and the drop and wear details come from Valve's published case odds and how CS2 skins work. We haven't opened cases chasing one or handled a pile of copies for this page. Treat every price as a snapshot.

Price snapshot: October 30, 2026
| Version | Lowest Steam listing | Recent median sale |
|---|---|---|
| Battle-Scarred | About $100 | About $104 |
| Well-Worn | About $95 | About $92 |
| Field-Tested | About $107 | About $97 |
| StatTrak Battle-Scarred | About $121 | Not enough recent sales |
Two things jump out. First, all three normal wears sit within about $12 of each other. Second, Well-Worn was actually listed cheaper than Battle-Scarred that day. That isn't a mistake: Case Hardened knives are priced mostly by pattern, only a handful sell each day, and a cheap Well-Worn listing with a dull pattern can easily undercut a Battle-Scarred one with more blue.
The practical lesson is simple. Don't assume Battle-Scarred is automatically the cheapest Kukri Case Hardened. Check all three wears before you buy, because you might get a cleaner blade for the same money or less.

How Battle-Scarred changes the Kukri
Battle-Scarred covers floats from 0.45 to 1.00. On a knife, wear shows up differently than on a rifle. Knives don't have big flat panels like an AK receiver, so most of the scratching shows on the edge of the blade, along the spine and around the handle area.
- Around 0.45 to 0.55: Looks a lot like Well-Worn. Most of the colored heat staining is still there, with light scuffing.
- Around 0.55 to 0.75: More bare steel shows through on the blade. Smaller patches of blue or gold may fade out.
- Above 0.75: Heavy wear across the blade. Some players like the rough, used look on a big chopping knife; others find it dull.
Because the Kukri's blade is wide and fills a lot of your screen in first person, wear is pretty visible. If you'll mostly look at it while inspecting in game, it's worth paying attention to the exact float instead of just the label. Our float chart shows every tier side by side.

Patterns on a Kukri Case Hardened
Every Case Hardened item has 1,000 pattern seeds, numbered 0 to 999. The seed decides where the colors land, and it doesn't change with wear. On the Kukri, players mostly care about the side of the blade you see when inspecting.
What that means for a buyer:
- Most copies are mixed steel, gold and a bit of blue. These sell close to the prices in the table above.
- Some seeds put a lot of blue on the visible side. These sell for a premium even in Battle-Scarred.
- The Kukri is new compared with older Case Hardened knives, so the community is still building out its list of best seeds. That means pricing on high-blue Kukris can be inconsistent, which can work for or against you.
Before paying extra for "blue", look the seed up in a pattern database and compare it with recent sales. Our Case Hardened blue gem guide explains how blue percentage and tiers are judged, and Clash.gg Stash is one free tool you can use to search patterns.
Where the Kukri drops
The Kukri Knife sits in the rare special item ("gold") slot of two cases:
- Kilowatt Case (February 2024): the first case released in the CS2 era, and the one that introduced the Kukri. On October 30, 2026 the case itself was about $0.11 on Steam, but you still need a key for each one. We cover the full case in our Kilowatt Case guide.
- Gallery Case (October 2024): also has the Kukri as its rare special item.
Valve's published odds put any rare special item at about 0.26% per case, or roughly 1 in 385. That's the chance of any Kukri at all, in any finish and any wear. The Kukri comes in more than a dozen finishes, and Valve doesn't publish how the gold slot is split between them. So the chance of a Case Hardened Kukri, and then specifically a Battle-Scarred one, is a small fraction of that 0.26%.
Put another way: at the cost of keys, opening cases to land this exact knife would almost always cost more than just buying it. Our case luck tables show how many cases it typically takes to see any knife at all.

Is the Kukri a good budget Case Hardened knife?
Compared with other Case Hardened knives, the Kukri is near the bottom on price, which is exactly why it's popular. Here's an honest look at the trade-offs.
Why players pick it:
- It's one of the cheapest ways to own a Case Hardened knife at all.
- The wide blade shows off the color pattern more than slim knives do.
- The animations are heavy and satisfying, and it doesn't look like every other knife on the server.
What to keep in mind:
- Resale value on newer knives can move a lot as supply grows. More Kilowatt and Gallery cases opened means more Kukris on the market.
- Steam takes about 15% when you sell there, so flipping it for profit is hard.
- Not everyone loves the shape. Inspect it in game before buying, because it handles differently from classic knives.
A fair way to think about it: you're paying around $100 for the Case Hardened look on a blade big enough to show it off, not for a status knife. If you mostly want a knife that's yours, gets compliments in casual matches and won't hurt much if prices dip, the Kukri fits that well. If you want a knife that holds value like a classic and is easy to trade later, an older, more established knife model in a plain finish may make more sense for the same budget.

Buying one without getting burned
- Use "Inspect in Game" on every listing you're seriously considering.
- Compare the float inside Battle-Scarred. Lower float usually means more visible color.
- Check Well-Worn and Field-Tested at the same time. The cheapest good-looking copy might not be Battle-Scarred.
- Look up the seed before paying any "blue" premium.
- Compare markets. Third-party marketplaces often list knives below Steam because of Steam's fee. Use reputable sites only.
- Protect your account. Don't log in through links sent in chat and never share your Steam API key. Since Valve added Trade Protection in 2025, trades can also be reversed during the protection window, so buy from sellers and sites with a track record.
Using case sites to go for one
Some players would rather take a shot than pay full price. Case sites like Clash.gg put Kukri finishes into custom cases at set odds, and CSGOEmpire has cases, games and a P2P marketplace where you can also buy one outright. A few rules if you go this way:
- Start free. Clash.gg gives free cases through our link, no code needed. CSGOEmpire gives a free case with code FREECASES4U.
- Read the odds on every case before opening. Reputable sites show the chance for each item.
- Set a budget and stop at it. The house has an edge, so over time you'll get back less than you put in.
- Never chase losses. If you've gone past your limit, buying the knife directly would have been cheaper.
StatTrak or normal?
The StatTrak Battle-Scarred Kukri Case Hardened had a lowest Steam listing of about $121 on October 30, 2026, roughly $20 more than the normal version. On many knives the StatTrak premium is much bigger, so this one is fairly mild. StatTrak adds a kill counter that only counts kills made with the knife itself, which for most people means a number that barely moves. Pick it if you like the orange tag and the counter on the blade. Skip it if every dollar counts, because there are very few StatTrak sales, and thin markets can make it slower to sell later.
Battle-Scarred or Field-Tested: which one should you buy?
If your main goal is the lowest possible price, compare the cheapest Battle-Scarred and Well-Worn listings on the day you buy and take whichever looks better for the money. If you want the blade colors to stand out in first person, Field-Tested (0.15 to 0.38) is usually worth a look too. In our snapshot its lowest listing was only about $7 above Battle-Scarred, and its median sale was actually lower. On a knife where so much of the value sits in the pattern, a few dollars can be the difference between a dull, scratched blade and a clean, colorful one.
Bottom line
A Kukri Knife Case Hardened in Battle-Scarred was about $100 on Steam on October 30, 2026, making it one of the most affordable Case Hardened knives in CS2. Wear matters a lot on its big blade, the pattern matters even more, and Well-Worn copies can be just as cheap or cheaper. Check float, check seed, compare all three wears, and you'll end up with a much better knife for the same money.
