CSGOEmpire Banned: Why It Happens, What Kind of Ban You Have, and What to Do Next

So you've opened CSGOEmpire and something's wrong. Maybe you can't bet, maybe you can't withdraw, maybe the site tells you it isn't available where you are, or maybe you've got a message saying your account is restricted. People call all of these "being banned", but they're very different problems with very different fixes. This guide walks through every kind of block you can hit on CSGOEmpire, what causes it, and what you can actually do about it.

Quick note on how we wrote this: everything here comes from CSGOEmpire's own help centre and terms, which we read on October 30, 2026. We haven't had an account banned ourselves, so we're not claiming inside knowledge of Empire's security system. Where Empire doesn't explain something (and it openly says it won't share every reason), we say so.

First, work out which "ban" you actually have

Before you write an angry support ticket, figure out what kind of block you're looking at. There are six common ones, and only a couple of them are real bans:

  1. A self-lock you (or someone on your account) set. Empire's "Take a break" feature can block betting or the whole site for up to 30 days.
  2. A country block. Empire doesn't accept players from certain locations, so the site may simply refuse to work for you.
  3. A Steam-side problem. A Steam trade ban, trade hold or locked inventory stops skin deposits and withdrawals, but it's Valve's restriction, not Empire's.
  4. A withdrawal held for review. Crypto withdrawals can be blocked pending KYC or because you deposited and tried to cash out without wagering.
  5. A marketplace ban. You can be removed from the P2P market specifically, for things like reversing trades.
  6. A full account ban or restriction. This is the one Empire applies when it decides an account broke the rules.

Each one has a different fix, so let's go through them in order.

1. The self-lock: "Take a break" and why support won't remove it

CSGOEmpire has a built-in responsible gambling tool on your profile page called "Take a break". Clicking "Enable" lets you apply one of two locks:

  • A betting lock. This switches off the gambling features you choose while you keep access to everything else on the site. You can add more games to it or make it longer at any time with the "Edit" button, but you can't remove games or shorten the time once it's running.
  • An account lock. This blocks the whole site for the time you set, including casino games, tipping, deposits and withdrawals. Empire's help page notes you can still claim your bonuses.

Both kinds of break also stop all betting activity, and Empire specifically says that includes cashing out any open match bets. So if you placed a match bet and then locked your account, you can't cash it out early while the lock is on.

The big thing to know: Empire says its support team will not lift these locks manually under any circumstances. That's on purpose. A self-exclusion that support can undo with one message wouldn't protect anyone. If you set a 30-day lock on a bad night and regret it the next morning, the answer is to wait it out.

If you didn't set a lock and one appeared, that's a different story. It could mean someone else got into your account. Skip down to the security section below and secure your Steam and email first.

Longer bans you can ask for

The profile page only goes up to 30 days. If you want longer, Empire says its on-site support team can set custom-length bans that expire after a set period, or bans with no end date, and that covers both gambling-only blocks and full-site bans. Empire adds one caveat: it may lift an indefinite ban once it's been in place for at least 30 days, although it says it tries its best to honour the length you first asked for.

If you're asking for a ban because gambling has stopped being fun, that's a good call, and it's worth doing more than one thing. Empire's own responsible gambling article points to Gamban, a paid tool that blocks gambling sites (including CSGOEmpire) across your devices, and lists helplines for a range of countries. Our responsible gambling page has more options.

2. The country block: not a ban, but you can't get around it

Empire's help centre explains that, because of the rules attached to its gambling licence, it can't accept customers from certain places. The list lives in the terms of service under "Who Can Use CSGOEmpire". When we checked the terms (last updated July 7, 2026), the blocked list included, among others:

  • The USA, the UK, France, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands (including Curaçao)
  • Australia, Lithuania, Slovakia and Montenegro
  • The UAE, Kuwait, Jordan, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Syria and Yemen
  • Cuba, Venezuela, North Korea, Myanmar, Palestine and several African countries such as the DRC, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Mali, Mauritius and the Central African Republic

The terms also mention that players in some restricted areas can only use trading features rather than gambling, so what you see depends on where you are. Check the current terms yourself, because Empire can change the list at any time.

Here's the part people don't like hearing: using a VPN to get around a country block breaks the terms. If you deposit from a blocked country and Empire finds out, you're risking exactly the kind of restriction this page is about, with your balance stuck inside it. If you're in the US, our CSGOEmpire USA guide goes through this in more detail, and the CSGOEmpire licence page explains who regulates the site.

3. Steam bans and holds: Valve's restriction, not Empire's

A lot of "Empire banned me" posts are really about Steam. CSGOEmpire's skin deposits and P2P trades all happen through normal Steam trade offers, so anything that stops your Steam account from trading stops those features on Empire too:

  • A Steam trade ban (from Valve) stops you trading entirely. You won't be able to deposit or withdraw skins anywhere, not just on Empire.
  • A trade hold from Steam Guard settings or a new device delays trades.
  • Trade Protection on recent trades means items can be reversed for a period, which is why Empire credits P2P sales only after that window ends. Our CSGOEmpire trade hold guide explains the timings.
  • A VAC ban is about cheating in CS2. It's tied to Steam and game servers, not to your Empire account.

Some top search results for "csgo empire banned" are actually threads about Valve banning Steam accounts, which is a separate subject. Valve's actions are between you and Steam support. Empire can't lift a Steam ban, and a Steam ban doesn't automatically mean you're banned on Empire. If your coins are still on Empire, you can usually use them in other ways or cash out through crypto, subject to the rules in the next section.

4. Withdrawals blocked or "under manual review"

If you can log in and play but a crypto withdrawal fails with a message saying your account needs a manual review, you probably haven't been banned. Empire's help article lists two common reasons:

  • You need to complete a KYC check. Empire says these are usually only needed once you've withdrawn 4,500 Empire Coins in total through crypto, but its security system can ask earlier in some cases. You'll find the "ID Verification" tab by clicking your name at the top right. Our CSGOEmpire KYC guide covers what's involved.
  • You tried to withdraw crypto straight after a cash or crypto deposit with no wagering. Empire isn't a crypto exchange. If you deposit with cash or crypto, you need to wager the full deposit before withdrawing crypto, or you can withdraw skins instead. Skin deposits don't have this rule.

Empire warns that if it thinks someone is using the site as a crypto exchange, it may disable crypto withdrawals and tips on that account. That's a restriction, not a full ban, but it's annoying and avoidable. It also says it can't share the reason for every decline, because that would show people how to get around its security system. If neither reason fits you, contact support. Our CSGOEmpire withdrawal rules and withdrawal pending guide go deeper.

5. Marketplace bans: trade reversals and fake evidence

The P2P marketplace has its own rules, set out in Empire's Skin Trading Policy (updated July 1, 2026). This is where some of the harshest penalties live:

  • Reversing a trade. While a trade is protected on Steam, either side can reverse it. Empire says anyone who reverses a trade may be permanently banned from the marketplace. If the buyer reverses, the buyer isn't refunded, and the seller gets the item back and keeps up to 100% of the coins.
  • Reversing after instant credit. If you got instant credit for a sale and then reverse it, Empire takes that amount back. If that leaves you with a negative balance, it may take up to 100% of your daily reward pool to cover it, and the policy says this applies to any alternate accounts too.
  • Not doing your part. A seller who doesn't mark an item as sent, or a buyer who doesn't mark it received, gets a penalty under Empire's trade punishment rules.
  • Misleading support. Empire says trying to mislead support or sending edited evidence in a dispute can lead to a permanent marketplace ban.

There is a proper route if you got scammed or trade-banned and really need to reverse a purchase: contact support before reversing. If Empire approves it, the policy says the seller usually keeps 30% of the coins and the buyer gets 70%, though the split can change depending on the situation. Reverse first and ask later, and you've likely earned yourself a ban. See our CSGOEmpire marketplace review for how P2P works day to day.

6. Real account bans: what usually triggers them

Empire doesn't publish a full list of reasons it bans accounts, and it's open about not wanting people to learn how to get around its systems. But its help centre makes a few things clear.

Alt accounts: allowed, but not for abuse

This surprises people: Empire says you can use multiple accounts to wager and trade. Having an alt isn't a problem on its own. It becomes one when you're using alts on purpose to abuse a feature. Empire gives two examples:

  • Referring yourself on an alt to earn commission on your own wagering.
  • Using an alt to get around match betting limits.

Neither is allowed, and Empire also says you can only use a single account for match betting. So if you've been spreading match bets across accounts, that's the kind of thing that leads to restrictions.

Other things that put accounts at risk

From the rest of Empire's help pages and terms, the likely triggers are:

  • Playing from a blocked country, especially using a VPN to hide it.
  • Reversing trades or messing around in disputes.
  • Using the site to swap cash or crypto into crypto without wagering.
  • Anything Empire's security system flags as fraud or bonus abuse.

None of these are surprising. Gambling sites restrict accounts that look like they're taking advantage of promos, laundering money or ignoring licence rules.

How to appeal a CSGOEmpire ban

If you think your account was banned or restricted unfairly, Empire's help article says to contact its support team. It handles every appeal case by case, tries to be as fair as possible, and says it will try to fix the issue and lift the ban where it can. It's also upfront that in some cases it won't remove a ban, "for good reason".

To give your appeal the best chance:

  1. Use on-site support on the real csgoempire.com. Don't trust "support agents" who message you on Steam or Discord. That's a classic scam.
  2. Be specific. Say what you were doing when the restriction appeared, which features are blocked, and roughly when it started.
  3. Be honest. If you used an alt or a VPN, saying so upfront is better than being caught out. Empire's policy treats misleading support as a reason for a permanent ban by itself.
  4. Send real evidence only. Screenshots or a screen recording of your trades can help with a marketplace dispute. Edited evidence will end the conversation.
  5. Be patient and keep it to one ticket. Opening five tickets doesn't speed anything up.

Keep in mind that a self-lock can't be appealed. Support won't lift it, so an appeal is only worth sending for restrictions Empire put on you.

Was your account hacked instead?

Sometimes a "ban" is really a sign that someone else got into your account. They might have set a lock, made strange bets or tried to withdraw. Empire's help centre says Steam accounts are usually compromised through a fake Steam login page, and it gives a clear checklist:

  • Email: log out all other devices from your email account settings, change the password, and turn on two-factor authentication.
  • Steam: deauthorise all other devices, change your password, revoke your Steam Web API key if one exists, and create a new trade URL. Our CS2 trade URL guide shows where to find it.
  • Empire: use "Logout from all devices", log back in, and turn on CSGOEmpire's own 2FA, which protects withdrawals and tips.

Then tell Empire support what happened. Empire says its team will help look into account security problems. Our CSGOEmpire mirror sites guide explains how to spot the fake login pages that cause most of these takeovers.

How to avoid getting banned on CSGOEmpire

Most bans are easy to avoid if you know the rules:

  • Check the country list before you deposit. If you're blocked, don't play with a VPN.
  • Keep match betting to one account. Alts are fine for other things, but don't use them to dodge limits or refer yourself.
  • Never reverse a P2P trade without talking to support first.
  • Wager your cash or crypto deposits before withdrawing crypto, or withdraw skins.
  • Turn on 2FA and Steam Guard, and only log in through the real Steam page.
  • Do the KYC check when it's asked. Our is CSGOEmpire trusted guide covers what the site asks for and why.

If you're blocked from Empire, other options exist

If Empire isn't available where you live, or you've decided to step back from it, don't hunt for workarounds. Pick a site that accepts players in your country, or take a proper break. Clash.gg is one alternative some players use for cases and skin games. Through our link you get free cases, no code needed. Check its terms for your country before you sign up, too. Our Clash.gg ban guide covers its own country rules and restrictions.

Try Clash.gg free cases, no code needed

Whatever site you use, treat case openings and bets as entertainment, not a way to make money. You need to be 18+ (or the legal age where you live). Set a budget before you start, and if you notice you're chasing losses, a self-lock is a smart move, not a punishment.

The bottom line

"Banned on CSGOEmpire" can mean six different things. A self-lock from "Take a break" can't be lifted by support, so you'll have to wait it out. A country block is part of Empire's licence and isn't something to dodge with a VPN. Steam trade bans and holds come from Valve, not Empire. Withdrawal reviews usually mean KYC or wagering rules. Marketplace bans mostly come from trade reversals or fake evidence. Real account bans usually follow alt abuse or rule-breaking, and you can appeal those through on-site support, which reviews each case on its own. Secure your account, follow the rules and you're unlikely to see a real ban at all. New to the site? Start with our full CSGOEmpire review and the current CSGOEmpire promo code.

FAQ

Why was my CSGOEmpire account banned?

Empire doesn't publish a single list, but its help centre points to the usual causes: abusing features with alt accounts (like self-referrals or dodging match betting limits), reversing marketplace trades, misleading support with edited evidence, using the site as a crypto exchange, or playing from a blocked country. A self-lock you set yourself can also look like a ban.

Can I appeal a CSGOEmpire ban?

Yes. Empire says to contact its support team if you think a ban or restriction was unfair. Appeals are handled case by case, and it says it will try to remove the ban where possible, though some bans stay in place for good reason.

Can CSGOEmpire support lift my self-lock early?

No. Empire's help article says support will not lift a "Take a break" lock manually under any circumstances. You also can't shorten it or remove games from it once it's active, only extend it.

How long can I ban myself on CSGOEmpire?

Up to 30 days from your profile page with "Take a break". For longer, support can set custom-length bans or an indefinite full-site ban. Empire notes it may lift an indefinite ban after at least 30 days, but tries to honour what you originally asked for.

Is having multiple CSGOEmpire accounts a bannable offence?

Not by itself. Empire says you can use multiple accounts to wager and trade. It becomes a problem when alts are used to abuse features, like referring yourself or getting around match betting limits, and you can only use one account for match betting.

Does a Steam VAC or trade ban mean I'm banned on CSGOEmpire?

No, they're separate systems. A Steam trade ban or trade hold stops you sending and receiving skins, which blocks skin deposits and P2P withdrawals, but it isn't an Empire ban. A VAC ban affects CS2 servers, not your Empire account.

Why does CSGOEmpire say it's not available in my country?

Empire blocks some locations because of its gambling licence. Its terms list countries including the USA, UK, Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands and Australia. That's a geo-block, not an account ban, and using a VPN to get around it breaks the terms.
