CSGOEmpire How to Tip: Sending and Receiving Empire Coins Step by Step
Updated · ·

Tipping on CSGOEmpire is the quickest way to move Empire Coins from one account to another. Maybe you're paying a mate back, splitting a win, or sending a few coins to someone who helped you out in chat. It's simple once you know where the button is and which ID to use. This guide covers how to send a tip, how to receive one, how to find the right Steam ID, what to do when Empire blocks a tip, and the scams that use tips to rip people off.
Quick note on how we wrote this: the steps and rules here come from CSGOEmpire's help centre, which we read on October 30, 2026. We're explaining Empire's published process, not reporting results from our own test tips. If a menu looks slightly different when you try it, the steps still work the same way.

What a CSGOEmpire tip actually is
A tip is a direct transfer of Empire Coins from your balance to another user's balance. According to Empire's help article:
- Tips are instant. The coins show up in the other person's balance as soon as you send them.
- There are no fees for sending or receiving.
- Tips go between two users. You pick one receiver each time.
- The amount is in Empire Coins, the site's own currency, not dollars or skins.
That last point matters when you work out how much you're sending. Empire's help centre says 1 Empire Coin = 0.6142808 USD. So a 10-coin tip is worth about $6.14, 50 coins is about $30.71, and 100 coins is about $61.43. You can switch the site to show other currencies by clicking your balance, but Empire notes those are only estimates and everything is still processed in coins. Our CSGOEmpire coins to USD guide has a full conversion table.

How to send a tip on CSGOEmpire, step by step
Here's the process, in the order Empire describes it.
Step 1: Get the receiver's steamID64
This is the step people get wrong. The tip box doesn't want a display name, an Empire username or a custom Steam URL like "steamcommunity.com/id/coolname". It wants the steamID64, a long number (usually 17 digits) that never changes, even if the person renames their account.
The easiest way to get it:
- Ask the person for their Steam profile link.
- Paste it into a lookup tool such as steamid.io, which is the one Empire's help article mentions.
- Copy the value labelled steamID64.
If their profile link already looks like "steamcommunity.com/profiles/7656119…", the long number at the end is their steamID64, so you can copy it straight from there.
Step 2: Open the tip menu from chat
On CSGOEmpire, tipping lives in the chat panel. Click the three dots at the bottom right of the chat, then choose "Send a tip".
Step 3: Enter the Steam ID and amount
Paste the receiver's steamID64 into the Steam ID field, then type how many Empire Coins you want to send. Take a second to check both:
- Is the ID the full number, with no spaces and no missing digits?
- Is the amount in coins what you meant? Typing 100 instead of 10 sends ten times as much.
Step 4: Confirm
Send the tip. If everything's fine, the coins leave your balance and land in theirs straight away. If you've turned on CSGOEmpire's two-factor authentication, which Empire recommends for protecting withdrawals and tips, you may be asked for your 2FA code first. That's a good thing, because it means someone who gets hold of your login still can't empty your balance with tips.
How to receive a tip
Receiving a tip takes even less work. You don't need to accept anything. The sender just needs your steamID64. You can get it two ways:
- Look it up yourself. Paste your Steam profile link into steamid.io and copy the steamID64.
- Ask Empire. Empire's help article says you can open a support ticket and write "What's my Steam ID?" and it'll be given to you automatically.
Once someone sends it, the coins arrive instantly and with no fee. Empire describes tipping in terms of Steam IDs, so it's worth giving out the ID of the Steam account linked to your Empire profile. If you also log in with email, make sure your Steam account is linked properly so the ID points to the right place.
"You cannot tip this user right now": what it means
Empire runs every tip through its security system to help stop problems. It says rejections are rare, but sometimes you'll see this message:
> You cannot tip this user right now. Please contact support for more information.
According to Empire's help centre, this means one of two things:
- You can't send tips at the moment, or
- The receiver can't receive tips at the moment.
The message won't tell you which. Empire's answer is the same either way: contact support so the team can look at it. Trying again a dozen times won't help.
Common reasons tips get blocked
Empire doesn't list every reason, and it says in another article that it can't share every reason for a decline because people would learn how to get around its security system. But its help pages point to a few likely causes:
- Using Empire like a crypto exchange. If you deposit cash or crypto and try to move it out again without wagering, Empire says crypto withdrawals and tips may be disabled on the account. Tipping isn't a loophole around the wagering rule.
- An account lock from "Take a break". Empire's self-lock blocks the whole site, and its help page lists tipping as one of the things you lose access to. Support won't lift these locks early.
- Security reviews. If Empire's system flags an account, for example while it needs ID verification, features like tips can be paused until that's done. Our CSGOEmpire KYC guide explains the check.
- A restricted or banned account on either side. If either account has been restricted, support is the only place to sort it out, and Empire says it reviews appeals case by case.
A worked example
Say your mate lent you 40 Empire Coins last week and you want to pay them back.
- You ask for their Steam profile link. It looks like "steamcommunity.com/id/somename", so it's a custom URL, not the ID you need.
- You paste that link into steamid.io and copy the steamID64, the 17-digit number starting with 7656119.
- On CSGOEmpire, you open chat, click the three dots at the bottom right and pick "Send a tip".
- You paste the number, type 40 in the amount box, and read both back one more time.
- You enter your 2FA code if asked, and send.
Your balance drops by 40 coins, theirs goes up by 40, and nobody pays a fee. At Empire's rate of 0.6142808 USD per coin, that's roughly $24.57. If they message you saying nothing arrived, ask them to refresh and check their balance first. If it still isn't there, compare the ID you used with the one on their profile before you contact support.
Can you undo a tip?
Empire's help pages don't describe any way to cancel or reverse a tip, and since tips are instant, the safe assumption is that a tip is final once you send it. That's why checking the steamID64 matters so much. One wrong digit can send your coins to a stranger.
If you do send a tip to the wrong account, contact Empire support right away and explain what happened. Just don't count on getting the coins back.
Tip scams to watch out for
Because tips are instant, free and (as far as Empire's help pages go) can't be reversed, scammers love them. Here are the ones to watch for:
- "Tip me first and I'll send double." Nobody gives away free coins. Anyone promising to multiply your tip is going to keep it.
- Fake middlemen. Someone offers to "hold" coins or skins for a trade between you and another person. You tip them, they disappear.
- Fake staff. Empire support works through the site itself. A "moderator" who DMs you on Steam or Discord asking for a tip to "verify" or "unlock" your account is a scammer.
- Selling coins for cash. Deals where someone sends you PayPal or a bank transfer in return for a tip are risky. Payments outside Empire can be charged back, while your tip can't be undone. If a person pays you, gets your coins and then reverses their payment, you've lost both.
- Fake login pages. Some scams start with a phishing site that looks like Empire or Steam. Once they're in your account, they tip your whole balance to themselves. Our CSGOEmpire mirror sites guide shows how to spot fakes.
The best protection is simple: only tip people you actually know, only log in on the real site, and keep 2FA on.
Keep your balance safe before you start tipping
Empire's security advice comes down to protecting every way into your account:
- Turn on CSGOEmpire 2FA from your profile page. Empire says it protects actions such as withdrawals and tips.
- Turn on Steam Guard if you log in with Steam.
- Secure your email with two-factor authentication if you log in with email.
- Never share your passwords, 2FA codes or recovery codes with anyone, including people who claim to work for Empire.
If you ever see tips you didn't send, act fast. Log out of all devices on Empire, secure your Steam and email accounts, and contact support.
When tipping makes sense (and when it doesn't)
Tips are handy for small, friendly transfers:
- Paying a friend back for coins they lent you.
- Splitting a win with someone you play with.
- Moving coins to a friend so they can try a game.
They're not a good fit for deals with strangers or for moving cash out of the site, for the reasons above. If you want to turn coins into skins or crypto, use Empire's normal withdrawal options instead. Our CSGOEmpire withdrawal rules explain those, and the CSGOEmpire fees guide covers what costs what.
Coins don't have to come from tips
If a friend wants to try CSGOEmpire, they don't need you to tip them a starting balance. New players can use code FREECASES4U for a free case on CSGOEmpire (worth up to $1.4k), and our CSGOEmpire promo code page explains how it works. If you'd like to try a different site as well, Clash.gg gives free cases through our link with no code needed.

However you use your coins, remember that case openings and games are entertainment, not a way to earn money. You need to be 18+ (or the legal age where you live). Set a budget, don't tip money you need, and check our responsible gambling page if it stops being fun.
The bottom line
To tip on CSGOEmpire, get the receiver's steamID64 (steamid.io works, or support can tell someone theirs), open chat, click the three dots at the bottom right, choose "Send a tip", enter the ID and the amount in Empire Coins, and send. Tips are instant and free, so double-check the ID, because Empire doesn't offer a way to take one back. If you see "You cannot tip this user right now", one of you can't use tips at the moment and only support can sort it. Keep 2FA on, only tip people you trust, and never fall for "tip me first" offers. New to the site? Start with our full CSGOEmpire review.
