How to Take Outside on Nuke as T

Updated October 10, 2026 · MyCS2Guru crew

Outside on Nuke is a huge open area. Taking it gives you access to Secret, which leads to B, and the Yard, which can lead to A. But crossing Outside without utility is suicide.

The setup

Three players Outside, two on Ramp or Lobby for a split.

The utility

UtilityPurpose
Two cross smokesBlock CT views from Garage and CT side
Flash SecretBlinds CTs in Secret
Molotov SecretClears close CTs

Step by step

  1. Throw cross smokes together.
  2. Cross to Secret while smokes are up.
  3. Flash Secret and push.
  4. Hit B with the Ramp players at the same time.

Common mistakes

  1. Crossing without smokes. AWPers love Outside.
  2. Poor timing with Ramp. Split needs coordination.
  3. Forgetting the Yard. CTs can flank.

Practice drill

Practice both cross smokes until you can throw them within seconds of the round start.

Timing the split

A Ramp/Outside split works best when both groups hit at the same time. The Outside group usually needs more time to cross and clear Secret, so the Ramp group should wait for the call.

What CTs will do

  • AWP on Outside: smokes are a must.
  • Garage player: clear it or smoke it off.
  • Secret stack: flash and molly before pushing.
  • Ramp aggression: your Ramp players should be ready.

Post-plant on B

After planting B through Secret, hold positions that watch the bomb from Secret and the vents. Keep a molotov for the defuse.

Why Outside is underrated

Many teams on Nuke play Ramp and Lobby only. Taking Outside forces CTs to spread out and opens up more options. Even if you don't hit B, controlling Outside makes the CTs nervous.

Variations

  1. Outside to A via Yard: less common, catches CTs off guard.
  2. Fake Outside, hit Ramp: throw cross smokes, then hit through Ramp.
  3. Fast Secret: on force buys, rush Secret with flashes.

Example round

Two cross smokes land. Three Ts cross to Secret. A flash pops in Secret, the entry kills one CT. The Ramp players hit at the same time. B falls, the bomb is planted, and the Ts hold from Secret and Ramp. That's how Outside wins rounds.

Common mistakes

  1. Walking Outside without smokes. The CTs will pick you off.
  2. Taking Outside then waiting too long. The CTs will rotate.
  3. No communication with Ramp players. The split only works if both sides go together.
  4. Forgetting Secret. Clear it with utility.

What the CTs will try

CTs might push Outside early with an AWP or throw utility to slow you down. If they stack Outside, call a Ramp hit.

Practice tip

Learn the two cross smokes for Outside and practice the timing with your Ramp players. The split only works when both sides move together.

Final tip

Outside is the most underused area on Nuke in pugs. Learn it, and you'll catch teams off guard.

Example round

Two cross smokes go out, and two players run Outside to Secret. A flash and molly clear the bottom of Secret. At the same time, three players push Ramp. The CTs on B get hit from Secret and Ramp together and lose the site.
