Dust2 callouts FAQ
- Why is Xbox called Xbox? The box looks like an old game console from above.
- What's the difference between Pit and Long Corner? Pit is the dip at the end of Long; Long Corner is the corner near the Long Doors.
- Where's Goose? In the back corner of A site.
Using Dust2 callouts in a real round
Here's how the names come together in practice. On T side, your Long player pushes through Long Doors with a flash and calls "Long Doors clear, one Pit." Your mid player watches Xbox and Catwalk and calls "Two Short." The IGL decides: "Hit B, Tunnels, go in 10." As you take B, your entry calls "One Back Plat, one Window." After the plant, everyone knows their spots: one Upper Tunnels, one Car, one Back Plat.
On CT side, the Long player calls "Long Doors, they're throwing utility," the B anchor calls "Quiet B, nothing Tunnels," and your rotator moves from CT Mid toward Long. Every call is two or three words because everyone knows the names.
Practice drill: call it out
Load Dust2 offline and run through these spots, saying each name out loud as you reach it: T Spawn, Long Doors, Blue, Pit, Long Corner, A Ramp, Goose, A Site, Short, Catwalk, Xbox, Mid Doors, Lower Tunnels, Upper Tunnels, B Car, Big Box, Back Plat, Window, B Doors, CT Spawn. Do it twice and you'll have Dust2 down.
Positions that win rounds on Dust2
| Position | Why it's strong |
|---|---|
| Pit (CT) | Hidden angle on Long, great for AWPs |
| Goose | Safe post-plant position on A |
| Back Plat | Classic B anchor spot |
| Window (B) | Sees the whole B site |
| Xbox | T control spot in mid |
Learn to call each one, and learn to check each one when you're on the other side.
Final tip
Dust2 is often the first map new players learn, which makes it the perfect place to practice making clean calls. Once calling feels natural here, the habit carries to every other map in your pool.
