CS2 Major Drops: How to Get Free Souvenirs While Watching
Updated · MyCS2Guru crew

Free souvenir packages just for watching CS2, bro? Yep, that's a thing during Majors. Here's how CS2 Major drops work, how to set yourself up and what to expect.
What are Major drops?
During CS2 Majors, Valve hands out random drops to viewers watching eligible live matches. The classic drop is a souvenir package from the match you're watching, which you can open or sell. Some events also run partner drop campaigns on streaming platforms.

How to be eligible
Watching in-game
- Open CS2 and go to the Watch tab during a live Major match.
- Watch the live broadcast (not a replay).
- Stay tuned in; drops are random during the match.
Watching on streaming platforms
- Link your Steam account to the streaming platform if a drops campaign requires it (on Twitch, check Settings > Connections).
- Watch the official broadcast channel during the live match.
- Check the platform's drops page to confirm a campaign is active. Not every event runs one on every platform.
What can drop?
- Souvenir packages for the match and map being played.
- Partner campaign items in some events.
See CS2 souvenir packages for what's inside and how much they're worth.
How likely is a drop?
Drops are random and Valve doesn't publish the odds. Lots of people watch Majors, so most viewers won't get a drop in a single match. Watching more matches gives more chances. Big matches like playoffs and finals are popular, but that doesn't necessarily mean better odds per viewer.
Tips to maximise your chances
- Watch live matches during the whole Major, not just the final.
- Use in-game Watch if you're at your PC.
- Link accounts in advance for streaming campaigns.
- Keep your Steam account in good standing (no trade bans, Steam Guard on).
- Check your inventory after matches for new items.
Common problems
- Account not linked: check your platform connections.
- Watching a VOD or restream: only official live broadcasts count.
- No active campaign: check the platform's drops page.
- Inventory not updated: restart CS2 or check later.
- Scam "drop" sites: never log in to third-party sites claiming to give Major drops.
Drops vs Viewer Pass
Drops are free and random. The Viewer Pass costs money and gives Pick'Em access, coin upgrades and souvenir tokens. You can do both. See CS2 viewer pass and CS2 Pick'Em guide.
What to do with a drop
If you get a souvenir package, you can open it (no key needed) or sell it sealed. Sealed packages often sell for more than the average item inside, so many people sell. If it's a famous match, consider holding. More: how to sell CS2 skins.

Bottom line
Major drops are free lottery tickets for watching CS2. Watch live, link your accounts, avoid scam sites and enjoy any souvenir that lands in your inventory.
Drop safety reminder
Valve and official partners never ask for your Steam password to give drops. Any site, Discord message or "giveaway" asking you to log in through a pop-up to claim a Major drop is a scam. Real drops just appear in your inventory.
Stay safe and enjoy the Major.
