CS2 Souvenir Packages: How to Get Them and What's Inside
Updated · MyCS2Guru crew

Souvenir skins are CS2 history in item form, bro: gold stickers from a specific Major match, stuck on a skin forever. Here's how CS2 souvenir packages work, how to get them and whether opening them is worth it.
What's a souvenir package?
During each CS2 Major, Valve creates souvenir packages for matches. Each package is tied to:
- A specific match (teams, stage, event).
- A specific map (and its collection of skins).
When opened, you get one skin from that map's collection, marked "Souvenir", with gold or event stickers of the teams, the event and often the match MVP's autograph. Souvenir skins can't be StatTrak.

How to get souvenir packages
- Viewer Pass tokens: buying the Major's Viewer Pass gives you ways to earn souvenir tokens (for example by upgrading your Pick'Em coin), which you can redeem for souvenir packages from completed matches. The exact system can change from Major to Major, so check the current event details. See CS2 viewer pass.
- Watching live Majors: random souvenir package drops can happen while watching eligible live Major broadcasts in-game or through official partner streams with your Steam account linked. See CS2 major drops.
- Buying on the Steam Market: packages are tradable and listed by match and map.
No key needed
Unlike cases, souvenir packages open without a key. That makes them feel cheaper, but the package itself has a market price, so opening it is like spending that price on a random item.
Rarity tiers and odds
Souvenir items come in rarity tiers, from Consumer Grade (most common) up through Industrial, Mil-Spec, Restricted, Classified and Covert (rarest). Each map collection has different tiers available; older and classic collections often include high-value skins like the famous Dragon Lore (in the Cobblestone collection) or other Covert souvenirs. The odds drop sharply with each tier, so most packages give low-tier skins.
Community-published figures for packages containing all six tiers suggest Covert drops are a tiny fraction of a percent. Treat high-tier souvenirs as lottery wins.
Why some packages are worth more
- The map's collection: collections with expensive high-tier skins make packages more valuable.
- The match: famous teams, finals and legendary matches push demand.
- The event: older Majors have fewer packages left.
- Players: packages with star players' autographs (especially MVPs) can be more sought after.
Are they worth opening?
Generally, the sealed package's market price is higher than the expected value of what's inside, because collectors and gamblers bid up the chance at a rare souvenir. Opening one is mostly for fun or for a specific dream item. If you got a package for free (from a drop or pass), the question becomes: do you want the cash value of the package, or the gamble?
A simple rule: if the sealed package is worth more to you than a likely low-tier skin, sell it. If you're happy to gamble that value, open it for the thrill. Either way, don't buy packages to open hoping for profit.
Souvenir skins and value
Souvenir skins often sell for more than their non-souvenir versions, especially if the stickers include famous teams or players, or the event was memorable. Low-tier souvenirs can be cheap, while high-tier souvenirs can be among the most expensive skins in CS2. See most expensive CS2 skins.
Selling packages
Packages usually sell best during and right after a Major when interest is high, though some older packages rise over time as supply shrinks. If you're selling, list on the Steam Market or reputable marketplaces and avoid trade scams. See how to sell CS2 skins.

Common mistakes
- Buying packages to open for profit.
- Not checking the map's collection before buying.
- Assuming all packages from a Major are worth the same.
- Missing Viewer Pass deadlines to redeem tokens.
- Falling for fake drop sites promising free souvenirs.
Bottom line
Souvenir packages are Major memorabilia with a gamble attached. Get them free through drops or tokens when you can, check the map collection and match, and decide whether to sell sealed or open for fun. Just don't treat them as an investment plan.
