Clash.gg Error "Freebies Disabled": What It Means and How to Fix It
Updated · ·

You click a free case on Clash.gg, or try to grab a Rain drop, and instead of a reward you get a short line telling you freebies are disabled. No countdown and no explanation of what you did wrong. It's annoying, especially if you signed up because of the free cases in the first place.
The good news is that this message is nearly always about your account set-up, not a broken site. In this guide we go through what "freebies disabled" usually points to, the checks that clear it, the cases where it won't clear, and what to send support if you're still stuck.
How we wrote this: the facts here come from Clash.gg's own help and contact pages, read on October 31, 2026, plus the rules we've already covered on our other Clash.gg pages. Clash.gg doesn't publish one official list of reasons for this exact message, so where we say "usually", that's what we mean. We haven't triggered the error ourselves to test it.

What "freebies disabled" actually means
"Freebies" is the catch-all word for the stuff Clash.gg gives away without you paying: the free cases, level rewards, Rain claims in chat and similar promos. When freebies are disabled on an account, the site still lets you log in, look around and often deposit, but anything free is locked.
Think of it as a gate rather than a ban. Clash.gg puts a few checks in front of its free rewards because free stuff attracts abuse. People make ten accounts to farm the same free case, or claim from a country where the site isn't offered. The checks are there to stop that. If your account hasn't passed one of them yet, or has tripped one, the free side shuts off.
That's why the fix is usually a set-up step, not a support miracle. Most people who see the message have simply skipped something.

The usual causes, from most to least common
Here's what usually sits behind the error. Go through them in order, because the first two cover most cases.
1. Your Discord account isn't connected
Clash.gg's help page is clear on this one: to redeem free cases you have to join the Clash.gg Discord and connect your Discord account to your Clash.gg account. Lots of players skip this when they sign up with Steam and then wonder why free cases won't open.
To sort it, open your profile or settings on Clash.gg, find the option to link Discord, log in to Discord when it asks, and approve the connection. Join the Clash.gg server too if you haven't. Then refresh the page and try the free case again.
A couple of things trip people up here. If you have two Discord accounts, link the one you actually use, because switching later can look odd. And if the Discord account is brand new with nothing on it, that's fine, but it still has to be joined to the server.
2. KYC isn't done
Clash.gg's help pages say the level 5 free case needs KYC, which is identity verification. Our own Clash.gg pages also note that the free daily case needs KYC and that Rain needs either level 10 or KYC. So if you've never verified, a lot of the free side is closed to you.
KYC on a case site normally means uploading a photo ID and sometimes a selfie or proof of address. It feels like a lot for a free case, but it's the main tool sites use to stop one person running many accounts. Once it's approved, it usually stays approved, so it's a one-off job.
Use your real details and an ID that matches the name on your payment methods. A mismatch slows things down and can lead to more checks.
3. You're under the level the reward needs
Some freebies unlock with your account level, which goes up as you play. If the reward you're trying to claim is tied to a level you haven't hit yet, it may show as disabled or locked rather than with a neat "level too low" message.
Check the reward's own description. If it mentions a level, compare it with yours on your profile. There's no shortcut here except playing, and we wouldn't advise depositing just to chase a free case. Free rewards are small. They're a bonus, not a reason to spend.
4. More than one account
This one is serious. Clash.gg's rules treat running more than one account as abuse, and it can cost you your rewards. Duplicates often get flagged through shared devices, IP addresses, payment methods or Steam accounts.
If you made a second account at some point, even just to test, that can be enough to switch freebies off on one or both. A housemate or sibling on the same network and device can also look like a duplicate from the site's side.
The honest fix is to stick to one account and explain any innocent overlap (like two people in one house) to support. Making another new account to "start fresh" is the worst move. It usually confirms the flag.
5. Where you're playing from
Clash.gg isn't offered in Idaho, Michigan, Montana, Nevada or Washington, and its terms also restrict places where gambling of this kind isn't allowed. If the site sees you in a restricted spot, the free side may be switched off along with other features.
A VPN can cause the same problem in reverse: your real location might be fine, but the VPN puts you somewhere that isn't, or it simply looks suspicious. Hiding your location breaks most case sites' rules, so the safe fix is to turn the VPN off and use the site normally from a place where it's offered.
6. A flag or review on the account
Sometimes an account gets looked at more closely. That might follow a chargeback, a pattern that looks like bonus farming, odd login activity or a reported trade. While a review is open, free rewards may stay off even if everything else above is fine.
You can't fix this one yourself. Only support can tell you whether there's a review, and only they can lift it.
Step-by-step: clearing the error
Here's the order we'd go in, start to finish.
- Log out and back in. It sounds basic, but it refreshes your session and picks up any change you've made, like a new Discord link.
- Link Discord and join the server. This is the most common missing step for free cases.
- Start or finish KYC. If it's pending, give it time. Don't send the same documents five times.
- Check the reward's level rule. If you're short, the reward will open once you get there.
- Turn off any VPN or proxy. Then reload the site from your real connection.
- Make sure you've only got one account. If you've got an old duplicate, don't use it, and tell support about it.
- Try a different browser or clear site data. A stuck cache can keep showing an old state, though it's rarely the real cause.
- Contact support if the message is still there after all of the above.
Most people are sorted by step 2 or 3. If you get to step 8, the problem is very likely on the account side (a review or a flag), and waiting or guessing won't fix it.
Contacting Clash.gg support the right way
Clash.gg lists live chat on the site and an email address, support@clash.gg. It says email replies come within 24 hours. Its contact page also lists a phone number and an office in Nicosia, Cyprus, but chat or email will get you further on a freebies question because you can send screenshots.
To get a useful answer the first time, send:
- your Clash.gg username or the Steam account you log in with;
- a screenshot of the "freebies disabled" message and the reward you tried to claim;
- whether your Discord is linked and whether KYC is done or pending;
- whether you use a VPN, or share a device or network with another player;
- the date and rough time you first saw the message.
Keep it short and polite. A clear message with screenshots is much easier to act on than "free cases broken pls fix". If support tells you a review is open, ask roughly how long it takes and whether there's anything they still need from you.
What not to do
A few common reactions make the problem worse.
- Don't open a new account. It's the quickest way to turn a temporary lock into a permanent one.
- Don't use a VPN to "reset" things. It adds a location flag on top of whatever you already have.
- Don't buy "unlock" services or codes. Anyone selling a way to bypass Clash.gg's checks is either scamming you or getting you banned.
- Don't hand over your login. Real Clash.gg staff don't need your password, and no Discord helper does either.
- Don't deposit to try and unlock freebies. Depositing doesn't remove a KYC or Discord requirement, and spending to chase a free case defeats the point.
Freebies disabled vs other free case problems
The message isn't the only reason a free case won't open, so it helps to know the difference.
| What you see | What it usually means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "Freebies disabled" | Free rewards locked on the account | Discord, KYC, level, one account, location |
| A countdown timer | The daily case is on cooldown | Wait; it resets every 24 hours |
| "Level too low" or a lock icon | You haven't hit the level yet | Keep playing; no fix needed |
| Rain claim won't work | Rain needs level 10 or KYC | Verify or level up |
| Case opens but shows a tiny item | It worked; free cases pay small | Nothing to fix |
If you see a timer, nothing is broken. The daily free case runs on a 24-hour cycle, so you just wait. If you see a lock tied to a level, that's working as designed. "Freebies disabled" is the one that points at your account set-up.
Does it affect anything apart from free stuff?
Usually not. The message is about free rewards. Clash.gg uses a balance system rather than an onsite inventory, so your balance, deposits and normal play generally keep working while freebies are off.
There are exceptions. If the lock is part of a wider account review, other things (withdrawals, say) might be held too while support looks into it. That's a separate issue from the freebies gate, and only support can tell you which one you're dealing with.
Deposits have their own rules no matter what. Clash.gg's help pages say Steam deposits need Steam Mobile Authenticator to have been on for more than 15 days, and crypto deposits wait for network confirmations. If a deposit is stuck, it isn't the freebies error. Check those rules first.
Is "freebies disabled" a sign Clash.gg is shady?
Not on its own. Most case and skin sites lock their free rewards behind checks like these, because free stuff is where the abuse happens. A site that gave free cases to anyone with no checks would be farmed to death in a week.
What matters is whether the rules are clear and whether support answers. Clash.gg says its games are provably fair (the result is set when the case animation starts), and it lists its support channels openly. If you want the wider picture, our Clash.gg review covers how the site works, and our pages on Clash.gg Rain and free gems cover the free rewards in more detail.
Getting the most from free cases once they work
Once the error's gone, a few habits keep it from coming back:
- Keep your Discord linked. Unlinking it can switch freebies off again.
- Keep to one account on one device where you can.
- Play from your normal connection, without a VPN.
- Claim the daily case when the timer's up, but don't treat it as income. Free cases mostly pay out low-value skins.
- Set a budget before you play anything paid, and stick to it.
If you're new and haven't signed up yet, it's worth doing the set-up steps on day one: link Discord, verify, then play. That way the free cases work from the start and you never see the message at all.

Our take
"Freebies disabled" sounds dramatic, but it usually comes down to a skipped step. Link Discord, finish KYC, check the level rule, stick to one account and drop the VPN. That clears it for most players. If it doesn't, the account is probably under review, and a short, clear message to support@clash.gg or live chat is the only real fix.
Free cases are a nice extra, not a reason to deposit. If you're 18+ and Clash.gg is offered where you live, set it up properly once and the free side should just work.
