G2A Shield, explained without the sales pitch
Shield is a paid membership-style add-on on G2A. It mainly gives you extra cover and faster refunds if a key doesn't work, plus some member perks. For a big basket of keys it can pay for itself. For a single small Empire coin card, the fee can eat a big chunk of what you're buying. Our rule: if the card is under about $20, buy from a seller with a long, clean track record and skip Shield. If it's bigger, or the seller is newer but cheaper, Shield is a reasonable safety net.
Spotting fake "CSGOEmpire" listings
Occasionally you'll see listings that bundle "Empire coins" with odd extras, or sellers claiming a card gives bonus coins on top. Empire coin cards credit their face value, nothing more. If a listing promises extra coins or "VIP" status, skip it.
Real example: reading a G2A listing
When you open a CSGOEmpire coin card on G2A, here's what to look at on the page, top to bottom:
- Product title: should say CSGOEmpire, the coin amount, and "global" or your region.
- Main offer: G2A shows one "best" offer. It's not always the best for you.
- Other offers: expand the list. Compare price, rating and number of sales.
- Activation tab: tells you where and how to redeem.
- Checkout total: add to cart, pick your payment method, then look at the final number.
Price comparison: G2A vs Kinguin vs crypto
Illustrative example for 25 coins (about $15.36 of balance at Empire's rate):
| Route | Example total | Premium |
|---|---|---|
| G2A card (incl. service fee) | ~$18.50 | ~20% |
| G2A card + Shield | ~$19.50 | ~27% |
| Kinguin card (incl. fee) | ~$18.00 | ~17% |
| USDT on a cheap network | ~$15.40 | <1% |
These are example numbers to show scale, not live prices. The pattern is consistent: marketplaces cost more than crypto, and add-ons stack up on small cards.
Troubleshooting G2A codes
| Problem | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Code says invalid | Typo, wrong redemption page | Follow the listing's activation tab exactly |
| Code already used | Bad seller | Report it via G2A with screenshots |
| Region locked | Bought a regional card | Dispute; next time buy global |
| Coins didn't appear | Page cache | Reload Empire, check transaction history |
| Seller ghosting you | Seller inactive | Escalate via G2A resolution centre |
Payment methods and their fees
G2A supports a long list of payment methods: cards, PayPal in many regions, local wallets, bank transfer and more. Each can come with a different fee. Before you commit:
- Switch payment methods at checkout and watch the total.
- Avoid paying in a currency different from your bank's, or your bank adds conversion fees.
- Skip extra add-ons you don't need on a small card.
After redeeming: making coins last
Gift card coins are normal balance. Empire's published house edges are 0.5% on coinflip, about 4% on match bets, 6.66% on roulette and 8.8% on cases and battles. Daily cases refund 25% of the edge on most games (5% on match bets) into your pool, and you claim 5% of that pool per day. So the daily case softens losses a little; it doesn't reverse them. Who should skip G2A
- People with crypto already: just deposit directly.
- People in countries Empire doesn't serve.
- Anyone buying to chase losses from earlier the same day.
Checklist before buying on G2A
- FREECASES4U claimed and free case opened.
- Seller rating and sales count checked.
- Global region.
- Total compared against Kinguin and crypto.
- Redeem right away.
G2A is the giant of key marketplaces, so of course people search for a CSGOEmpire gift card on G2A. It works, bro, but G2A is an open market where anyone can sell, so the buying part needs more care than the redeeming part. This page is the safety check. If you just want to know which card size gives what, our Kinguin card breakdown covers the coin-to-dollar maths.

What's on G2A
G2A has carried CSGOEmpire coin keys such as 10 and 15 coin cards, plus an official-looking Empire seller profile. Sizes rotate. Each listing has several sellers stacked under it, each with a price, a rating and a number of sales. Same product, very different risk.
The five checks before you pay
- Seller rating and volume. Look for a high positive rating across many sales. A brand-new seller with five sales is a coin flip you don't need.
- Price vs face value. Empire's help centre puts 1 coin at about $0.614, so a 10 coin card is worth about $6.14. A listing at $3 is a warning sign, not a deal; very cheap keys can be bought with stolen cards and get revoked.
- Region lock. Pick "global" or your own region.
- Activation notes. Read the "how to activate" tab. It tells you where the code goes.
- Total at checkout. G2A adds a service fee depending on payment method. Look at the final number, not the headline price.
G2A Shield: worth it?
G2A Shield is an optional paid add-on that gives extra refund cover if a key is faulty. On a big order it can make sense. On a 10 coin card, the fee can be a large slice of the value. Our take: on small cards, skip it and just buy from a top-rated seller; on bigger ones, consider it.

Redeeming a G2A code on Empire
- Copy the key from your G2A library.
- Log in to CSGOEmpire with Steam.
- Open the Deposit page and find the gift card option the listing points to.
- Paste and confirm. Check your balance.
Empire's built-in gift card route is the Kinguin one, so if the listing's instructions differ, follow those. If a code fails, open a ticket with the G2A seller straight away; time matters.
G2A vs Kinguin vs crypto
| Route | Pros | Cons |
|---|---|---|
| G2A | Huge marketplace, many payment methods | Seller quality varies, service fees, optional Shield cost |
| Kinguin | Empire has a direct Kinguin deposit route | Fees and markup too |
| Crypto | No minimum deposit, no marketplace middleman | Need a wallet, pick the right network |
For most players who already hold some crypto, depositing directly is cheaper. Empire takes BTC, ETH, LTC, USDT, USDC, SOL, DOGE, XRP and more. Check the networks in our CSGOEmpire ETH deposit guide before sending.
Things a G2A card won't do
- It won't unlock Empire in a country where Empire doesn't operate.
- It won't give you extra XP or bigger daily cases. Those come from wagering.
- It can't be "refunded" back to your card once redeemed.
